If you haven’t made it over to Freeport to see the new Freeport Regional Sports Complex in Hammock Bay — let me encourage you to do so.
I saw it for the first time about two weeks ago when the Little League teams were playing in the District 1 tournament. It was a definite WOW when I drove into the parking lot and saw all the beautiful landscaping and ball fields.
And it’s not just one ball field, but five ball fields, some for adult softball and others for the young ones. The complex has a sand volleyball court, two soccer/football fields, three tennis courts, two basketball courts, and even eight shuffleboard courts.
And for the little guys, there is a neat fenced in playground area with everything from a small scale rock climbing thing to swings and slides of every kind.
There are also nine covered pavilions with barbecue grills for cooking, and plenty of restrooms.
There’s no charge to enjoy the facility so check it out.
It’s located in Hammock Bay, just off State Road 20.
