If you haven’t made it out to watch the South Walton High boys junior varsity basketball team play yet — come a little early for the varsity game and catch a little of the young guys action.
Last night at South Walton, the junior Seahawks lost a nail-biter against Holmes County Blue Devils in overtime, 63-59. The Hawks had a chance to win the game in regulation, but lost it in the last 10 seconds with it ending in a tie, thus overtime.
The chance at the victory came when a young Seahawk went up for a layup and the ball rolled around the rim in slow motion and almost came to rest against the backboard. It literally was on the rim for about four seconds, before it rolled out.
Anyhow, the Hawks lost the game in overtime, but not before South Walton’s Mason Smith fired up the nets for 36 points.
